An Application Layer Active Networking Infrastructure for Distributed Virtual Reality
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents an application layer active networking infrastructure for distributed virtual reality. It will assess the efficiency for group communication of multicast trees over n-way distribution. The analysis of clock synchronisation and event routing is also performed. The viability of this infrastructure is assessed by simulation.

How Bad Are Overlay Networks?
This paper assesses the incorporating of candidate nodes into overlay multicast trees. Overlay networks attempt to compensate for the awkwardness and inefficiencies that can exist across the Internet for group communication. This work uses a network simulation application to assess the feasibility of overlay networks and presents the results found. Results show that there are persistent improve...
متن کاملDynamic Operation of Peer-to-Peer Overlay Networks
Virtual overlay networks, such as virtual private networks or peer-to-peer services, can be seen as a new paradigm for providing multi-service networks. Virtual overlay networks may offer customized services to a specified community while providing a high degree of flexibility in the usage of shared resources. This paper examines the requirements of operating dynamic overlays, in particular, fo...
متن کاملAn Architecture for Application Layer Routing
We have previously proposed, implemented and demonstrated an Application Layer Active Network (ALAN) infrastructure. This infrastructure permits the dynamic deployment of active services in the network, but at the application level rather than the router level. Thus the advantages of active networking are realised, without the disadvantages of router level implementation. However we have previo...
متن کاملMulticast Communication for Distributed Virtual Environments based on Active Networks
{ This paper presents a communication model based on active networking concepts for virtual reality systems. This model provides a dynamic form to users join and leave multicast groups. The main features of the proposed model, required to suport large virtual worlds, are: fast construction of distribution tree, scalability, and reliability on demand.
متن کاملNetworking Support for Collaborative Virtual Reality Projects in National, European and International Context
The report describes experiences from networking support for two three years virtual reality projects. Networking requirements depending on the virtual reality environment and the planned distributed scenarios are specified and verified in the real network. Networking problems especially due to the collaborative, distributed character of interaction via the Internet are presented.
